Significantly changing pattern to meet my available yardage.
CO for size L (208) and work chart A1, ending with 182 stitches.
Decrease an addition 2 stitches, 1 on each side, to have a total of 180 stitches as is required for the XL colorwork section.
Knit until long enough to start color work. Start chart A2, proceed as written.

I’m concerned that I won’t have enough yarn to make long sleeves. I’m going to knit short sleeves before joining at the yoke. Once I finish the sweater, I’ll create sleeves with however much yarn I have left and then connect via Kitchener in the round.
8 days post cast on and I’ve finished everything but the sleeves. As I feared, I have a substantial amount of gray and maybe a skein and a half of blue. I’ve stalled out on the sleeves because of this, so I’m trying to finagle the gray at the cuff to ease into the blue through color work.
CO 48 and did charge A-1 as the cuff instead of the rib. Knit 7 rounds and started color work in chart A-5.
at 54 stitch (3 increases?), started A-2 chart at the third row up from the bottom for a full 7 rows.
Once hitting 60 stitches, knit 7 more rounds.
1 round blue
1 round grey
1 round checker board, beginning with grey.
Begin A-4 chart, first 9 rows to transition into blue.
Knit 6 (?) rows blue, connect to body.
Success! I love this sweater so much! When I blocked it, the sleeves gained about six inches and I panicked. Thankfully, drying it brought them back in to the appropriate length.
FTR, I had about 2/3 skein left of the blue, so I’m glad I sectioned the arms like I did.
