Cast on 40 (20, 10, 10)
Size 4 needles with worsted
Knit 2” (14 rows) single ribbing, at 4” (28 rows) start thumb.
Making mittens instead of mitts.

Thumb 17 sts. Pick up 2 sts, next row slip 2 tog, k1 pass slipped sts over (17 sts). Knit a row then another decrease (16 sts) Knit 14 rows total, k2tog k2 around, then k2tog all sts.

Knit hand section to top of little finger (14 rows from thumb) then shape top of hand (1 1/4”), if decreasing a k1 p1 do ssk (slipping the purl as if to purl). Keep in pattern as decreasing.
