I wanted a sweater in a bright yellow, not to fancy but that could go from casual to dress wear. This seemed to fit the bill but I think I would like it longer.
I had a little difficulty getting my head around the raglan detail but once was in it, the project moved along nicely. It may be the way I read the pattern, but my stitch count was a little off. Was able to adjust and get the right number at the completion of the yoke. I also could not find any M1R or M1L in the pattern yet it was in the abbreviations. I think I would have liked that better than the M1 that seemed to run through the pattern. It does define the raglan detail but I’m not sure that I like the hole that it makes. Another option would be YO, then knitting through the back of the stitch.
Revisions:
- added an additional 1” to neckline
- did 3 sets of 4 st increases on the sides every 25 rows of the body for a total of 12 st. Wanted it to get comfortably over my hips.
- added an additional 1” to body under the top to the pocket to give some depth to the pocket and length to the sweater.
- used 3.5 mm needles for 3” of band ribbing and finished with a straight BO with 4 mm needles (making the sweater longer and straighter).
- worked 7 rows of pocket ribbing with a straight BO.
- decreased sleeve every 7 row x 14 (I’m petite)
The fit turned out really nice and I like the comfort but I think if I were to do it again, I would definitely add 4 st on each pocket, 2 on either side and the arm is snug. I would work a couple of inches before I started the decrease and then do them a little more rapidly and likely do 4 less decreases. If you like a snug sleeves, it is fine.
