I bought synthetic rope at the bricolage (DIY shop) and used the knitting needles I bought as a young girl at Hema.
As I got lots of questions about the details, I added photos of the ‘yarn’ I used. This synthetic rope I bought at Hornbach, I think it came in different colours. I used almost three cones for 92 by 85 cm surface.
Make sure to leave at the beginning and at the end long strands of yarn to attach the knitted pieces to the fence.
I was hard to attach yarn of a new scone or ‘weaving in’ the ends as the yarn is very slippery, so I decided to sew with some black sewing thread the two ends together (little overlap, just some stitches and it holds well).
Make sure the knitted pieces are attached with strong tension, so the lace is ‘blocked’ in its frame.
