Knit Picks Hawthorne Fingering

This is the second pair of socks I am working on for the Lots of Socks Knitalong in support of Down Syndrome International. I had been wanting to try this intriguing heel and was glad to see the designer was one of the sponsors, and then even happier to get the pattern at a discount during the first fifteen days of February.

Top-down sock knitting is not my usual method, but thanks to the LOTS OF SOCKS pattern which I tried first in this knitalong I had already learned Tillybuddy’s stretchy cast-on, which I now really like. That, and writing down directions for Kitchener stitch on a 3x5 card, may mean I won’t be scared off of top-down from now on.

The heel fits me well and looks good with the triangles meeting to become a diamond. I would like to make this again in a self-striping yarn.
