Persnickety Knitter’s Anatomically Correct Toes
Reverse Engineered for Toe-Up Sock Patterns
All credit goes to the Persnickety Knitter for this revolutionizing method of knitting sock toes.
Knit using regular sock weight yarn and 3 DPN’s. Needles 1 and 3 are the bottom of your foot and Needle 2 is the top (instep). ½ of the stitches on Needle 2; ¼ of the stitches on Needles 1 and 3 respectively.
Cast on approximately 16-18-20-22 sts using Figure 8 cast on, or Judy’s Magic cast on.
NOTE: Cast on 16 stitches for a small or particularly narrow foot, 18 for a woman’s average, 20 for a slightly wide foot and 22 for a very wide foot. This is a guesstimate. Follow your pattern.
Distribute onto 3 needles: 5 stitches on Needle 1, 10 stitches on Needle 2 and 5 stitches on Needle 3.
