A really cute little project.

I really need to make sure I don’t start these projects after midnight. Things become much more complicated on the mind.

I wanted to make an amigurumi project that was simple, small and knitted (to expand my skillz). I couldn’t resist this chibi Totoro. My first knitted amigurumi plushie! Well, after the tiny candy corn, but I don’t think they count.

I also worked short rows for the first time, so I no longer need to avoid patterns with short rows, LOL.

I think next time I will try the last part of the ears as an i-cord. The stitches kept slipping off my needles at the end.

I swear embroidery is the bane of my existence. I think it took around an hour to do the face (I had to redo it a bunch. At first I made little stitches for the eyes, but after I had finished, decided they were crap. Tried a couple of times to do a French knot, but it was too late at night to pull that off. In frustration, I tied a couple of knots and threaded them through. I had an even worse time trying to make a circle. The first few attempts were very…lumpy.

It was four in the morning when my husband stumbled in and found me working on the chibi Tototro. He asked me if I was all right, to which I replied, “Of course I’m not okay!” LOL. I just wanted to get it finished at that point.

I want to make a bigger version as a toy for my niece.
