Due to having a larger gauge, picked up 42 stitches around band. Knit two rows, then started decreases (began with K5, k2tog).

Finally finished. Lots of procrastination over the braids. Kept picking up stitches the wrong direction. Used the wrong needle size once. Lots of little mistakes that made me start over.

Used size 13 needles for most of the hat and switched to size 15 needles for the braids.

Feels kind of small. Next time I’ll try to meet gauge (was much larger than should have been, that’s a first) or pick up 49 stitches around the band.

Pretty cute pattern.

Cast on 16 stitches for band. Slipped first stitch knitwise, followed pattern, purled last stitch.
