Notes

I’ve wanted to make a granny square market bag for awhile and thought I’d use this pattern as a reference. I’m also using the English translated striped version of the same bag for additional help. I like the crocheted handle of this bag better than using bamboo handles.

Update 7/7/2011

Finally finished! I’m not really sure why it took so long to complete. I guess it was too monotonous for my liking.

I didn’t think the 18 rows would be enough. The other striped version has 30 rows and I thought I would compromise at 25. I got to 20 and called it good. I was nervous while completing to sides because the bag looked too small. Ha! The bag is super big and voluminous. 18 rows would have been more than plenty.

I wanted to have the handles be a different colour, but I did not have enough yarn of a complementing colour…so it’s the same yarn for the whole thing.

The handles threw me off until I realize that you need to fold them over and whip stitch the ends together. I also discovered that you need to fold over and sew the long handle sides then sew the short sides. I had to fudge the part where the long handle side and short sides meet.
