Yay, sunflowers!

I’ve been thinking a lot about making sunflowers lately, so I decided to convert the pattern to a sunflower shape.

The first one I made has two layers of petals, but that doesn’t seem to work well for a face scrubby. It’s seems better suited as a kitchen scrubber.

On my second attempt, I did one layer of petals and liked the result.

Modifications:

  • Work rows 1 and 2 as directed. (I used a different colour for each row.)
  • Attach new colour with a SL ST. * Work (1 DC, 1 TR and 1 DC) into both loops of the next stitch. SL ST through both loops of next stitch. *
  • Repeat * * around, preferably ending on a SL ST.
  • CH 8 or 10 and SL ST into next stitch.

The double layer petal version is about the same, only the first layer of petals is worked into the front loops. Once you’ve reached the beginning, spiral around by crocheting into the back loops. I made sure to work the (1 DC, 1 TR, 1 DC) into the SL STs of the first layer of petals, thereby alternating the petals.
