I’m on a Slipper Kick - these are for Mr. Cold Feet, Junior… my College Aged Nephew - who appreciates his Aunt Yarn’s creations!
Hoping they fit!
Used Bulky Yarn instead of double-stranded worsted. Pre-Felting Gauge is too small… (9.5 instead of 9) Hoping the Bulky doesn’t felt as tightly.
I really like the Paton Classic Bulky - a nice addition to the Classic ‘family’ - though not a lot of color choices at A.C. Moore and a little pricey for the yardage. Gonna have to buy some ‘natural’ and see how it takes dye :D Maybe there will be a lot at the Spinrite Outlet Sale in May 3:)
Modified Sole Construction to avoid some of the finishing: make the soles without a center seam by casting on 1/2 of the stitches (-1/2) +1 on a circular needle (31+1=33 stitches for men’s Medium) - then pick-up the remaining stitches along the bumps on other side of the first part…
(or you can just do a Judy’s Magic Cast-On http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring06/FEATmagiccaston.html for the total number (+1 on one needle for the center stitch - remember to un-twist the stitches on one side)
The first row is a little tricky - I put a loop in the cable at the ‘toe’ and made sure to transition tightly from one side to the other to avoid extreme laddering - but saves a little hassle for finishing… you’ll still have to stitch the little bit at the heel closed and baste the two sole together - but I’m all for short-cuts when they don’t impact the finished look :D
