Notes

I made the pattern as written the first time - but the wavy edges of the strip create ‘fins’ on the inside of the steering wheel. I figured if I offset the waves so that one edge ‘zigs’ when the other ‘zags’ - when it’s laced onto the steering wheel… the fins would lie flat and fit together like puzzle pieces. (Guess what another of my favorite pastimes is?)

Just have to figure out how to post it here.

Yikes this is fiddly. Could have used it a few weeks ago when the temps got down to single digits (not normal for N.C. - made the mistake of going out with my fingerless gloves and hubby’s steering wheel was so.cold!)

maybe a crochet variation? Hmmm.

The cotton blend yarn was a little bulkier and less snug than the cotton w/elastic yarn I used for my first Wheelie - but Hubby says it really helps on those cold mornings going to work - so, I’m glad to have made the effort this took. The alterations to the original pattern worked, too!! - the edges complimented each other and made for a smoother ‘feel’ to the covered wheel. It wasn’t a quick project - but it’s fun!
