Knit the chunk of rice first…… I used some boucle yarn doubled and it should be very tight knitting.
cast on 6 on DPN, increased by Kfb, K1 x3 (9)
Kfb, k2 x3 (12)
kfb, k3 x3 (15)
Knit for 1 inch
decrease same as increases but with K2tog instead of kfb.
stop and stuff with cat nip when there is 12 stitches.
when there is 6 sts, cut and pull yarn through.
Put rice to the side.
Take 2 sz 3 needles, Long tail CO 8 sts with red yarn worsted weight
work in stockinette stitch

5 rows red
1 row orange

1 row orange
4 rows red
Bind off
secure onto rice and sew in ends..
for the seaweed strip I held one strand of dk weight dark green and fingering weight black bamboo.
CO 4 stitches
work in stockinette until strip is long enough to wrap around “sushi”
When work is long enough pick up 4 stitches, with the other needle at the cast on.
kitchner stitch to close around the sushi. Leave long ends and use them to tack the strip all around so that your cat doesnt destroy it.
