Scrap yarn cardigan made with sock yarns and fine merino yarns. The upper back and upper fronts have appliqued crochet flowers.
Buttons: Coconut.
I made this cardigan up as I went, knitting a 1x1 ribbed hem and straight up, without increases. When I reached the desired length, I decreased 8 stitches on either side for the armholes. Knitted straight up until I reached the desired length for the back piece and seperated for the neck. I always do this by feeling and a very long time of knitting experience (over 49 years).
The front was worked in a right and left part, halfing the stitches of the back. The armhole decreases were worked in the same height as the back. For the round neckline I decreased in the desired hight and finished both sides mirroring each other. I then cast on the sleeves directly on the armholes. I use an estimate of 80 stitches. I decreased in the desired rhythm to shape a regular fitting width for my sleeves. Sewed all the seems of the cardigan by hand and then worked the placket. I love to work my plackets in crochet. For me it is a sturdier way and the button holes can be done so much easier.
