May 31 - It’s blocking! I never thought this day would come!

I think I can officially cross “knit complicated lace shawl” off my Goddard list. There were many firsts for me with Evenstar – my first KAL (and a mystery one at that!), my first large lace project, first time doing a circular shawl, first time adding beads, and probably a few other firsts as well.

I followed the pattern in every way – no modifications at all. I ended up using this provisional cast-on for the edging and grafted the ends together. I used all the recommended beads. (Got my beads at Crystal Creations Bead Institute in West Palm Beach – they were so fantastic to let me lay out my shawl-in-progress to play with all the different beads…and then my eensy crochet hook – size 13/14 – came from Iris Moon in Boca Raton – and they were so fantastic to let me bring my beads and play with the crochet hooks to see what size would fit.)

Love it! Can’t wait to get it off the blocking mat!
