Length 2.5m with 36cm depth at centre. Plan to cast on Monday 1st Dec, and knit a bit each day through the month. Chose a sparkle sock yarn for the body, and 10 x 20 gm minis to choose from, when 2nd mini set arrives, when I started the body to familiarise myself with the stitch pattern, I found speed of knitting much slower with the stellina blend yarn and it does not slip through tensioning fingers as smoothly as all wool nylon blends, so decided I would need to carry on and get a major portion of the body knit in November to have the fun of the border leading up to Christmas, and completion before the end of December.

Main skein wound up, just waiting on my needles and new long cord, as I have a few tips in use on wips on the go, but want to swatch before proper cast on date.

Made a start to see if I would be happy with 4mm needle, and time how it would knit. Can now read my knitting, and identify if my stitch count is out. More time required so start date pushed forward as I need some easy work break / commute knitting, and placed are more attention demanding lacework shawl on hold.

Have used 18.5 gms to get to 123 stitches. 11.25 cm at centre depth.

Finished the 48 rows of textured body patterning and started the repeat of 48 rows, over 180 stitches on the needles now. Centre spine depth 17 cm.

Reached 60% of body stitch count this morning, nearing the end of the 2nd repeat of diamond texture, hopefully finishing the body section on Sunday, to start border on the 1st December.

Final repeat of diamond texture started, and stitch count now up to 277.

Ran out of yarn on last row of body with single skein of sparkle sock, looking for the other skein to pinch a bit to get correct stitch count for the lace border. Half row knit from 2nd skein. Add started border with the pink mini from Fortune Yarn Co. Extra mini skeins from Strawberry Patches has arrived in Melbourne still waiting for them to cross the country.

Completed 1st 3 colour changes and only lost 1 stitch, which I corrected on row 6. On the 4th colour stripe done at night I dropped stitches off the end of needle where colours are changed, and picked up incorrect number when starting row 7. I have lost 2 stitches, so will have to pick extra stitches at beginning of the 5th colour change, 1 on each side of the gem marker, which is where increases will line up.

Finished the 4th stripe, but want to knit the 5th in another green from a New Zealand dyer (as designer is a Kiwi), still waiting for it to arrive, at least it is in Australia, waiting on Australia Post to get it across the country.

Started 2nd repeat of coloured stripes. Still losing a stitch every now and then.

Almost finished 3rd repeat, with yarn to spare so starting last stripes before bind off. Yeah!
Will be using a 4.5mm needle for the bind off.

Finished weaving in the ends and started the blocking, it is naturally stretching more in the width than depth so going with the long scarf shape. Before unpinned the length across the top is almost 2.6 metres.
