Started a swatch, will give it a soak tomorrow. Guage off so will start as size 4 and check guage on work.

Shortrows completed, and 10 rows straight knitting done on the back, aiming for 7.5 inches to base of armhole of the dropshoulder before picking up the fronts from cast on.

December 27, 2025

7.5 inches knit on back sleeve edge before picking up 1st front. Cast off 16 stitches at each edge as I felt I was getting too wide as I will be adding short rows for bust on the front only. The cast off stitches will be seamed and form beginning of sleeves.
Decreased the number of increases neck edge after 5 increases to alternate 1 cast on stitch, then 2 stitches next right side row. Increased to next size up for the bust.
Started shotrows front only, while doing the side decreases.
6 pairs of short rows and 6 underarm decreases.

December 31, 2025

10cm knit under sleeve join, and back centre length now 34 cm.

January 4, 2026

Neckline ribbing completed with start of the 5th ball on 3.5 mm neeedles. An extra row of ribbing knit, with ccd in the v and some decreases spread over the 9 rows of ribbing at both shoulders and centre back so ribbing will lie flat. And cast off loosely on the wrong side ‘in pattern’ with a 4.5 mm needle.

Preblocking length measured from the front centre (v-neck cast off) to centre live stitches 29 cm. Width across garment at full bust 59 cm (hoping it stretches 5-6 cm for some positive ease), not ready for waist shaping yet, will knit another 5 cm straight before doing som decreases on back only.

Stretched widthways to ensure looser fit at underarm, and centre length shortened from 29 cm to 26 cm

January 10, 2026

8 stitches decreased on back, knitting straight for 5.5 cm, then with joining of 6th ball, adding back 1 set of increases stitches to return to size 2 stitch count (192) for the lace.

January 13, 2026

3 more rounds of lacework, then ready for icord bind off of the body. Icord cast off on 5mm needle.

January 14, 2026

Used shortrows after picking up sleeve. Knit from BoR to centre shoulder marker, and 5 stitches beyond, turned purled to centre top marker, slipped marker purled 5 stitches turned. Shortrows: knit double stitch, knit 2 beyond, turn etc for 5 pairs, then knit 3 past last double stitch etc until I had 16 unworked stitches at the underarm. Worked 2 plain rounds adding extra stitch to make multiple of 16. While I placed markers on the 2nd plain round using centre underarm as BoR to start lace chart on row 10 next round. Stitch count 64.
Finished lacework on sleeve with row 21, next row added 8 stitches, a stitch between 1st and last k2tig and ssk to increase to 72 stitches, then worked 8 rows half twisted rib on the same needles and cast off using alternating cable cast off.

January 17, 2026

Blocking, and didn’t need to break into 8th ball, so under 350 gms used, I have 4.5 gms of 7th ball left after cast off.

Sleeve 18 cm at underarm seam, and body length from underarm 42 cm.

January 19, 2026

Will need to crochet chain across inside back of neck ribbing, and add some elastic to edge of ribbing.
