Notes

As it is mostly garter stitch, I will cast on with 3.75mm, as a swatch, using the Yarnadelic Women in blue from JAT. I will use the variegated stripe yarn from Wool Chambers (just under 150 gms) as the majority of the shawl, and then change to Yarnadelic.

August 31, 2025

Started a tension test, by knitting beginning of pattern.

September 1, 2025

Not happy with the edge stitches, thinking about doing icord edge. My new yarn has arrived, no deep blue, but quite a bit of a dark purple, so should transition to the Indigo quite nicely, and A Night without Stars for the finishing texture and border on wide end.

Cast on again in the hand dyed, with an extra stitch added, which I am slipping (with yarn in front) on wrong side and knitting on right side beforecthe k2tog at beginning of row, this has stopped the roll and I am much happier with the tension, should block nicely.

September 2, 2025

Well into section 2, and the colour transitions are pleasing, fainting into a solid on the long row side will be great when I get to it. I intend a large shawl so will reserve half of the 3rd 50 gm ball for later.

Straight edge now 35 cm.
Started the 2nd repeat of colours in the 1st 50 gram ball, getting 2 and bit repeats of the colours in each.

September 5, 2025

Now part way through ball 2, and side length is 76 cm.

September 6, 2025

While I had the soaking tub out, decided to give the shawl a mid- project block. Half way through the 2nd ball.
60 cm across row, 90 cm long.

September 8, 2025

3rd ball joined on. 160 stitches on the needles.

September 13, 2025

Finished the last of the the 3rd long colour transition balls, time to pick solids to finish off the shawl.

Finished the last of the the 3rd long colour transition balls, time to pick solids to finish off the shawl. Put my hands on the Yarnadeic in Indigo Dust colourway, and as I finished on the green of the other yarn, a fitting transition.

Sept 14th.
Knit 12 rows then transitioned from grey of last ball (2 rows) to the Women in blue.

September 18, 2025

224 stitches on needle, and just about finished another Indigo stripe.

September 19, 2025

Nearing the end of my Women in blue, so after the next colour change I will reverse my striping.

20 September, run out the Women in blue as small stripe in the Indigo dust, another 4 rows in Indigo then I will start the border at craft group this afternoon.

Blocked on 23rd Sept.
Measures 143 cm on cast off edge and 173 cm along length right eyelet edge.
