Notes

No shoulder shaping, so I lengthened the armhole openings and picked up less stitches than regular for length of opening, to slope the ribbing more down the shoulder (I have very sloped shoulders). I also added a repeat of 1st chart so that I could lower the neckline being a larger busted person and I was going for a more fitted size.

Double stranded using fingering-weight Corriedale held with a strand of laceweight merino Sesia.

I need to accommodate a large bust, so will be making sizing changes (by increasing for my bust and adding waist shaping, increases in both the cable pattern and the stockinette panels), and deepening the armhole and neckline openings as also off guage.

Swatched with half cable chart B and rest of rows in stockinette.
Cable section 15.5 cm before blocking and length 7 cm cabled, 6 cm on the stockinette. Decided to knit back to armpit portion on 3.25 mm needle and the front and remainder of back on a 3.5 mm needle.

Original sample in 320 m / 100 gm Skydance Fibers Dark Matter.
Using 4ply Corriedale Green Tea Yarns Nettle base with Sesia Finissimo laceweight.
Cast on 102 stitches will gradually increase to size 5 stitch count.

February 8, 2026

Completed 6 repeats rather than 5 of Chart A, before starting armhole shaping, as my row guage is smaller.
Continued with pattern instructions as per size 2.

February 11, 2026

Completed 1st 24 row of Chart B with increases every 4th row, then started alternate row increases for armhole shaping. Currently 8.5 inches knit from cast on edge

February 15, 2026

Picked up 21 stitches for left front from 2nd skein which is a bit darker than the skein used for back to underarm.

Starting increases after 6th cable cross on the front. To reach 15 stockinette stitches by rows 41.

February 19, 2026

Nearing the end of Chart B part 1, and to rapid underarm increases, I have increased 12 stitches evenly in pattern, to match the back portion. So adding extra travelling vine to each panel.

February 21, 2026

Joined underarm and knit 5 rounds alternating the Corriedale skeins on each round. Working Part 2 of chart. Have also set-up for a pair of cables to run down each side seam.

February 22, 2026

Have started decreases on back portion only. Have decreased 12 stitches over 7 rounds (with ssk and k2tog), and now a further 6 stitches over 12 rounds at the beginning and end of the stockinette panels.

February 23, 2026

Adding in the 3rd skein, alternating with last of 2nd skein.

March 3, 2026

Had to reknit 10 rows due miscrossed cable, side seam length now 9.5 cm.

March 6, 2026

12 cm knit from underarm, thinking about transitioning to twisted stitches as I at high waist.

March 11, 2026

After adding 16 stitches post waist depth, and added further 20 stitches over 3 rounds before starting in ribbing on the 3.5mm before dropping to the 0.25 smaller needle, completed the ribbing on the 3.25 mm before catoff using alternating cable bind off on a 4mm needle tip.

March 13th
Picked up the neckline for half twisted rib on a 3.25mm needle and knit 1st row (establishing the ribbing), before changing to a 3mm needle. Decreases 5 times using central double decrease, once at centre of back and 2 times in the front curves.

March 14, 2026

Cast off the 1st sleeve opening picking up with a 3mm needle and working 8 rounds before casting off the same as the hem on a 4mm needle tip, now to attempt same pickup rate on the other side.
Finished with a 28.5 cm side length including the ribbing before blocking and 118 cm across full bust
