So excited about this project. I’ve been planning it for months!
Pattern says the 18-24 months size is 28” around at the chest. HOLY crikie…. that’s bigger than my 6-year-old so yeah…. I’m planning on lining the sweater so it can be his winter jacket. Since A has a 21” chest and I want to line it with fabric, plus an inch or two of ease would be good anyway I sized down to the 12-18 months which it says (and CO numbers agree) has a 26” chest. Going to read over the rest of the pattern and work the numbers while I knit the 5-row garter border(knit bottom up) and see if those FO measurements are off, or if I should add 2 more sts to each cable twist(p2, k6, p2 instead of p2 k4 p2) to tighten it up just a wee bit more and not mess with the overall numbers of the pattern.
Doing the body decreases more gradually than the pattern calls for:
Row 13- 2 sts before first hip marker SSK, pass second hip marker and k2tog
Row 15- pass first marker and k2tog, 2 sts before second hip marker SSK
I like the look of it. Repeating the same pattern of decreasing every 3 rows(instead of 4 per row every 6 rows).
A couple little glitches in the pattern here and there(erroneous stitch counts, etc), but overall I liked the outcome of the pattern.
11/5- Finally got the lining sewn in and buttons on. The blocked FO is not the dimmensions the pattern stated. Much smaller, which is so sad because this was to be my guy’s jacket for the next six months and now I am not sure it fits NOW. Hence my stalling on the finishing touches.
11/6. It fits. Not with the ease I wanted, but it fits and I am SO happy about that.
This size had 7 button holes, but I only used 6 buttons because the placement of the 7th was so high it was useless and would have undoubtedly been a chew toy for my little guy.
1/3/14 edit: Adding the link to my :very: rough blog on how I lined it. :-) http://creatingessence.blogspot.com/2014/01/the-ukrainian...
