A Square Hexagon

Inspired by this Website I came up with the idea for my Booklet. Barbara’s square is too big so I adapted her pattern to fit a Hexagon African-Flower motif :)

With 2mm hook make 10 Hexagons

Make 2 squares in same colours because that will be part of the cover. Mine are in brown colour.

I crochet the African Flower pattern up to 4th Round then did the following to turn the flower into a square;

sc4, (hdc, dc2, tr-ch2-tr, dc2, hdc, sc5) repeat … end with 1sc. Fasten Off.

With 3.5mm hook make 4 join-motifs

(I use brown yarn) - Holding 2 motifs together 1sc in each stitch going through both layers. 2sc in the corners. FO.

Make 3: Join the colourful squares together.
Join a brown square with a colourful one.

Cover with 3.5mm hook

Join the 2nd brown square with a colourful one. But do not cut yarn. Make sure to start with the brown square facing you and 1sc in the corner, 1sc in each stitches and 2sc in corners. End with 1sc in the corner.

Do not cut yarn. Join-as-you-go now (JAYG).
Chain 1, sc in same stitch, (JAYG to colourful square in front loop, sc in brown square in the back loop) repeat - 15 sc, turn.

Pattern R1: Sc 15 in the front stitch, turn.

Pattern R2: JAYG in front loop of new square, sc in both loop of the other square.

Continue joining the rest of squares by repeating those 2 pattern rows.

End with pattern R1.
