Sexy firemen without shirts are currently putting the lifeline in place.

Okay, ready to turn the heal again.
I did it! YAY!

So now on to the gusset. It says to pick up 20 stitches on the sides of the sock. Um… 20? My needles are only 5” long. I’m a little worried about that. Hmmm, which way? Right or left side? both? I think I need to put this down and eat a bag of Hershey kisses first.

Okay, so after watching a few videos (1 and 2) on youtube I think I know what to do. I didn’t understand that “pick up stitches” meant to pick up the loops and knit. And, I figured out that the 20 stitches are from the 20 rows of the heel flap.

Omg, I actually finished a sock! I am in awe of this masterpiece on my foot. No one else is the house cares. My husband said I need to make another one.

8/8/16 - frogged my second sock. I knew I shouldn’t have worked on it when I was having a fibro flare up. Some of my stitches/rows in the heel flap were so tight and I couldn’t pick up the stitches for the gusset.

8/10/16 - Ready to kitch the toe.
Now I know I did mess up the first toe. On that one I messed up and took out my stitch markers too soon. I tried to put them back where they should go but I knew it didn’t seem right. I also didn’t knit the last round after decreasing the last time. This time on the last decrease round I got down to the 6 stitches on just two needles and I got to that spot where I was confused the first time because the marker for the end of the round is in the middle of one of the sets of 6 stitches. So it was divided the wrong way (left/right not top/bottom). This time I did it right (I believe anyway) and remembered to knit around taking the 6 after the marker to one needle and then working the next 6 to the next needle which left my yarn coming off the first stitch in the back just right to kitchener. Last time it was in the front, 2nd stitch in and I used a darning needle to move the end of the yarn through the last stitch on the front and then to the back. This time it feels so much more RIGHT. YAY!

Now that my socks are done and I am wearing them they seem a little loose. If they stretch out any in the wash they might be too big. I think it would have been better to start the toe sooner. The sock I made first and didn’t do the toe right is a little shorter and fits better. The second time I finished the toe right and it is longer and that part hangs out past my toes.
