followed the large solid up to last 8 rounds. Changed to two rounds in cc, 1 mc, 2 rounds cc, 1 mc. Finished with 2 rounds sc with G hook. My gauge was slightly larger than that stated in the pattern so the hat came out bigger. I wanted it loose in case he has a sensitive scalp and the 100% cotton may shrink a little anyway. The two rounds sc in smaller hook keep it snug while the hat isn’t too tight.

Used the full skein of dark blue-played yarn chicken and won with about 2 inches to spare.
