I can finally do a cable stitch!!!!! These hats worked up fast and I felt impressed with how easy it was to do a cable. Denise has great instructions on the page above and includes her YouTube showing how it is done.
The two hats are made of a bulky wool yarn. (Fleisher’s Big Spice 100% Wool. Interchangeable with Fleisher’s Gigantic. Olive Mist 2 OZ per skein, two skeins) It shows the stitch off the best.
I’m making another right now out of a yarn that is more hand-spun looking and it has a different look. I’ll include a picture of that hat when I’m finished.

Okay, this last picture is the finished product of the picture above it. The lighting is too light on the one above and too dark on the bottom one. BUT It was pure wool that felt hand spun. It was fun to work with. But the cables don’t show as well as the top hats in this list.

Wow, was this fun. I will call it the iris bouquet hat. If you click on each picture you can see how the whole hat looks. I don’t know what the names of the yarns are. The green was so soft and had a shininess to it. The white is Sensations Rainbow Boucle. I still have two big balls of it. The lavender had no label but I assume it a Red Heart or other worsted. Isn’t it fun when accidents surprise you!

I love doing this cable slouchy since I don’t have to look at the pattern any more. So it is a go-to pattern when I just want to be busy.
