Though I like the big fluffy collar, this angora is too cheapo to have right up to my face. The hairs are super short compared to high quality angora and therefore shed way more. So I decided to protect my face from flyaways with a ribbon crew neck, folded over and sewn down in the inside.

Looking at the model, I thought that the 38-40 would be too big and calculated for a half-size smaller in between. But this cabled rib has got me thinking twice! I ended up increasing to the full 38-40 even though I started with less stitches and I’ll be making the front exactly as specified.

That’ll teach me!

Also, nothing comes close to Anny Blatt Angora Prestige but it’s just way too luxurious for me to purchase. I’m making due with something far inferior, sigh.

Matching the hue of the smooth ribbon in the ribbing to the hairy angora is absolutely impossible. Seriously, I have 4 different white/cream ribbon yarns and while holding them against each other, nothing was the same! No matter how white the angora is, it turns yellow next to the white ribbon. Conversely any ribbon yarn that is less than bright white looks positively yellow next to the white angora! I guess this is why people complain about trying to match the off-white paint on the walls?

I might change the ribbing color completely. Hmmm.
