30May10: It took awhile to get pics of this, I was done almost 3 weeks ago. I wanted to find an arcade of some kind, but settled for a Craigslist buy of a Nintendo Gamecube. Skyrockets the cost of this sweater, but hey, I get to play Mario.
So, I obviously changed the neckline. I thought of a v-neck steek and then was too lazy to figure it out. So, I used the two steeks as in the pattern, and also did the ribbed collar as suggested. However, I made an overlapped placket into a sloped v-neck by picking up stitches along the placket edge and short-rowing a triangle until the bottom of the space was covered. My first use of unpatterned short rows, and a success. I initially tried to just decrease to form a triangular slope but it looked very messy.
Really an excellently written pattern, and an awesome fit. Recommended.
22Apr10: Thanks to Veronik herself for mapping out a small Pacman motif Pacman for me! So far, the small Pacman has made it on to the right sleeve. I was just going to add him in somewhere amidst the Inkys, but then that would imply he would be eaten by a ghosts right away. So I thought he should have a whole row, as if he had eaten most of the pellets… uh-oh, that little ghost is toast!
I don’t want these to be cats, either. To avoid trying to explain to the world, ‘these aren’t cats, they’re foxes’ which I really appreciate the need for turtle and BirgitteStikker, I flipped the pattern upside down and was time-warped back to the 80s. Yes, these are PacMan ghosts.
For those of you into trivia, the PacMan ghosts are Blinky (red), Pinky (duh), Inky (bright blue) and Clyde (orange/brown). And imagine my delight when Noro had a color that exactly matched 3 out of 4?
I am playing with the idea of adding a pac-man somewhere amidst the ghost clone chaos. If he can make it to the next level, then he will truly be a SuperArcadeHero. Anyone want to chart him for me, I can’t get it right! I need him in a 6x6 square…
