13July2011: Wow, this came out great! And I have to say… so much better than in the magazine. It’s so elegant and the colors just magically came together. A++ stash buster.

The key is negative ease, that’s the mistake they made with the model in the magazine, it just looks like armor on her. A big thanks to Yarnartist, who inspired me to do this project.

I did a picot bind-off for the neck to make it prettier. I like this bind-off because a regular ‘loose’ bind-off can be really inconsistent and wonky. I cast-on two stitches (cable cast-on) and bound-off 4, knitting as tight as possible.

For the underarms, I bound off loosely regularly, but then closed up the gaps between entrelac squares using all of the ends.

14June2011: To keep stitches on ‘hold’ I use a long piece of yarn. I can keep stringing it alternately by tier very easily. A holder would be bulky I imagine…

I would like to do a funky edge on the neck (which begins with a provisional cast-on). Something with squares perhaps. One of Nicky Epstein’s crazy edging books should help me there!

I think this will be bulky and hot. But I’m going to try it anyway because this stuff is in my stash and not going anywhere.
