I had some yarn left over from making the blanket, so I whipped up this cute little hat to go with it. I did a crab stitch instead of whip stitch around the bottom edge, and honestly, I have no idea if Baby Adams will be able to wear this… I have nothing to test sizes of things like this. I can only hope.
I was a little confused at first about how this pattern would work out. When I got to the parts about working dcs in the space between the first fpdc and the dc from the previous round, I had to search a little for some insight. I couldn’t find any! I felt like I must be pretty dumb to be the only person to ever get tripped up by this.
Ultimately, I figured out that each set of dcs would always be worked in that one space following the fpdc. Between it and only the first dc from the previous round. For some reason I couldn’t wrap my mind around that at first. And once I started doing it, I still felt like I was doing it wrong. Something just didn’t look right about it. But as I continued on, things fell into place and began to look right. If you’re struggling with this, trust the pattern. It will come out right as you go.
I’ve never made roses before. These are cute and simple, but may require a little bit of manipulation as you sew the base together. I started out thinking I would make larger petals and go smaller in size as I went down the line, but this didn’t really go well and ultimately, I stuck to the pattern and liked the look much better. I used 3 different sizes of hook to make the leaves, going down one size for each of the last two. I was thinking to make a couple of smaller leaves, but they really didn’t turn out any smaller than the ones with the H hook.
