Notes

Used the same yarn and needle size (see above) as for my Granddaughter’s shrug and adjusted the pattern. My gauge was 5 1/2 stitches/inch.

  • Follow pattern directions making the following changes:
  • For the plackets, I knit 4 seed stitches instead of 5 garter. I do not refer to the knitting/purling of these stitches in the directions below, but they are included in the number counts that are given. When you are at the point in the pattern for beginning the plackets, be sure to K1, P1, K1, P1 at the beginning of every row and P1, K1, P1, K1 at the end of every row.
  • I did not make a button hole but crocheted a chain to make a loop instead.
  • BEGIN: CO 2, PM, CO 4, PM, CO 12, PM, CO 4, PM CO 1.
  • Work as in pattern directions until the back has 18 stitches between markers for back.
  • At the end of this knit row, CO 4
  • Next row is purl. At end of row CO 4.
  • Continue to follow directions in pattern until the back has 26 stitches. You are ending on a knit row.
  • Purl the next row.
  • Right side facing you will have 13, 18, 26, 18, 14 stitches respectively between markers.
  • Follow pattern directions for dividing for sleeves, casting on 4 stitches for underarms.
  • You will now have 17 stitches on scrap yarn at each sleeve. There will be 14 + 4 + 27 + 4 + 14 = 63 body stitches on your needles.
  • Knit in stockinette for 1/2”, ending on a wrong side row.
  • Lace edging: you have 63 stitches, but 8 of these are in the plackets so follow directions for lace edging, increasing 6 stitches evenly across the next row. Now you will have 69 stitches, but less the plackets you will have 61 stitches for the multiple of 10 + 1. Complete rows 1 and 2 and repeat these two rows 2 more times.
  • Sleeve edging: Follow directions, but at the armhole you will need to pick up 3 stitches in addition to the 4 that you had cast on earlier. You will have 17 + 4 + 3 = 24. I worked these 24 stitches for the ribbing for about 6 rows, then bound off in pattern.
