Notes

These are wonderfully comprehensive instructions for a first foray into lace and chart reading. However, my first lace project and I almost gave up the ghost on the first few rows. I did come up with a system to make the border lace charts more manageable. I wrote out the 12-stitch repeat for each row on the more complicated rows and read off my page (instead of trying to refer back and forth to the chart). Much easier.

I also ultimately used a life line on every purl row which saved a lot of time and frustration. Since finishing this I’ve bought myself the Knit Picks “Options” needles in wood. They have a small hole on the neck to string a piece of dental floss through. No more hand threading of lifelines and it works like a charm. My old method got pretty tedious. Also sold as individual needle sizes so you don’t need to buy a full set.

So proud and pleased with the outcome!

Blocked size: 60’ x 23” with 10 grams left over.

Bind off: k1, #k1, insert left needle into the front of the two stitches on the right hand needle and knit them together like an ssk#, repeat between # until all stitches are bound off.
