Well, as a person living close to Karlsruhe, I HAD to knit this shawl, right? Karlsruhe is also called the “Fan city” (Fächerstadt) as the grid of the city looks like a fan, with the castle being the centre…
I am planning to use a box of leftover sockyarns for this.

Did not to the cables for the first slip stitch section, but just slipped them.
Started slip stitch blocks today

Worked on contrast garter ridges no. 4 in slip stitch Vs - it is easier now as I can see the pattern and do not have to keep counting repeats…

Finished diagonal ribbing, go on with slip stitch dots instead of seed stitch.

Finished 8th row of slip stitch dots - those are loooong rows now and I prefer working on this by daylight, so I do not make that much progress currently

Finished honeycomb slip stitch section, will do the two row stripe and start the border after that.

About to bind off! Will not do an Icord, but single crochet bind-off. Did only 5 brown garter ridges for the ZigZag border, will probably huge anyway.
I am curious to see how big this will be after blocking. Was really fun knitting, though the rows were VERY long in the end (about 30 minutes per row…). Might try it again with “proper” yarn, not sockyarn scraps, maybe to be inspired by the “real” Karlsruhe colours - the castle is light yellow, for example, a lot of the trimming cream white, the lawn around it green and the typical sandstone used from the area a redish-pinkish brown.

Wow - as espected, it grew quite a lot in blocking, size is now ok, would not liked a longer shawl. Really like how it looks when worn.
