Want to give knitting these “no show” socks a try - if it works, I will use that pattern a LOT! However, 60 stitches seems a bit too much, I go for 56 stitches.
I did 3 rounds after ending the toe increases before putting the stitches on hold (using the cast-on tail).
Then I did 54 rows for the sole (i.e. 27 slipped stitches at each side) before casting on for the heel.
This is like two toes on a sole, one of them being a little wider.
Finished 1st sockie - fits better than I would have thought! Did the short rows with the German Short Row method. Did 3 rows in total in ribbing over all stitches after the short rows before binding off - it helps not to do a stretchy bind off, at least for my taste. Even 52 stitches would have been enough, might try this next time.
Only bad thing: Quite a lot of ends to weave in, as you pick up stitches all around after finishing sole and heel.

Finished 2nd sockie - really quite a nice pattern, now I have to try how they fit when worn in shoes.

Update: Wore them in shoes today - they stay on the foot very well! I cannot say something about the warmth of a standard wool yarn yet, as it was not soooo warm today - but I like them! Worth the picking-up-Stuff!
