Notes

3/27/2010 - Completely finished, now that the blocking is done and the pictures have been taken. My daughter Katie looks beautiful in it. May she always fly high.

3/16/2010 - It’s all blocked and drying. Whew.

3/14/2010 - Finished!!!! Only the soaking, blocking, weaving in of the ends left to do. Total time: 2 years, 56 days.

3/8/2010 - On the last chart of the reknit - only 25 more pattern rows to knit (50 with the return journey - LOL)

1/16/2010 - Fixed the holes. Separated the wing but will not be able to reattach it, so it’s back to the knitting board. Oh well. At least now it will be right.

1/11/2010 - finished the second wing. It’s done!! Yay!! I’m so happy, and so is the daughter. But wait. Could it be that easy? No, of course not. During this whole process we came home one day to find that the dog had gotten into it and ruined one of the skeins of alpaca. I thought I had gotten away with it, I could have sworn I had. I checked it over very carefully. But I missed the three holes she chewed in the first wing, So now I have to repair those before I can soak and block.

Also, I’m heartsick to say that I got the second wing on backwards. Backwards!!!! Argh. My hubby, bless his heart, asked how much I would have to rip back to fix that. I couldn’t help it, maniacal laughter erupted from me. Rip back? It would have been the entire second wing. I’ll have to just put it aside for a day or so, think about how to detach the wing, flip it over, and reattach it. I’ll post over at Ravelry for hints and suggestions.

My daughter laughed and said she would fly in circles the way it is now. She made me feel okay after that. I’m still going to fix it, but I’ll do it with a smile on my face.

8/23 - finished the first wing, ready to pick up the stitches being held on the other side of the middle section. Onward!

8/15/09 - finally picked up the stole again, after my daughter asked me twice whatever happened to it.

6/1/08 - about halfway through the first wing.

4/20/08 - back on KP Options, and it’s working fine now. Once I got used to the yarn being so thin, the yarn and I came to a truce and I’ll be able to finish this stole.

1/25/08 - cast on again, this time with bamboo straights. We’ll see….

1/23/08 - great - frogged AGAIN. I do not like this yarn. But my daughter loves it. Argh.

1/21/08 - not lovin this. I’ll give it to the end of the first chart (50 rows) and then decide whether or not to keep using this yarn.

1/20/08 - frogged it completely last night, as I made some kind of error, couldn’t find it, and since I was only 7 rows into it, thought what the heck, why not. The second go around is progressing better. This yarn is so hard to see the stitches in, and so very fine, it’s like knitting with thread.
