This project is an experiment of sorts. Up to this point I’ve been a monogamous knitter and had no qualms about it. I knit because I like to have knitted things to wear, and I like to finish things I start generally, so I found it easiest to knit (and block, seam, and edge) one project before I started the next one.

But when I started Sunbird, I realized that it was a) going to go very slowly, often only two rows in a sitting, and b) not going to be portable. I have an hour-long lunch at work, and having nothing to knit on seemed like rather a waste just because I was toiling on the shawl at home.

So I decided to start a portable project, and only work on it while at work or in the car. I also wanted to attempt cables again on a small canvas. (My first-ever knitting project had cables, and it was a challenge because of my death grip on the needles.)
