Let me be blunt: I did not love working on this shawl.

I’m not entirely sure why, considering that I very much enjoyed working on its predecessor, Juniper.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the pattern per se, though there seemed to be a lack of consistency to when the first stitch of the round was slipped, and the explanation of the increase rounds felt inelegant. But neither of these things made it difficult to complete the pattern.

By and large, I think it was a result of the piece becoming somewhat unwieldy to carry around, with many ends to weave in, and the change in textures simply didn’t capture my fancy the way other patterns have.

Despite a near utter lack of joy throughout the process, as soon the thing was blocked and on my shoulders, I knew I’d want to keep wearing it. I love the combination of colors, and having a shawl that won’t come unwrapped when I bend to wash my hands or tie my shoes is one of life’s simple pleasures.
