Notes

Making Pooh as a baby gift for a colleague at work. I haven’t done a lot of crocheting prior to this project, so it’s been a fun challenge so far.

Todate the ears, muzzle, arms and nose have all been fairly straight forward. However I got really stuck on Rnd 17 of the body. I think I have figured out how to attach the legs. In Round 17 after the decrease, one single crochet is worked from the leg. Then the next SC (which the pattern called “behind”) is actually the first st from Rnd 16 when the leg and body were worked together. Do the ch 9 then skip the next 9 joined together sts of the leg and body. This gets you over to the other side of the leg. In the tenth st do a SC. With this the 11 sts from the join of leg to body in rnd 16 have been used (one sc, 9 skipped, one sc). Now the next SC is from the leg again on the left side (or far side). The pattern says 14 unworked sc in the leg. In round 17 two additional sts from the leg are worked on either side. So the 16 unworked sts left in the leg at the end of round 16 is reduced by 2, therefore 14 unworked. Then continue on to do the same thing for the second leg. Make sure to double and triple count you sc. I had to do this a number of times to get it right. Hope this helps anyone else struggling.

Finished Rounds 18 to 23. Lots of frogging involved to make the stitch count work. Realized the chain stitches are not counted and there are very small tight stitches at the leg joins that should be count and used. Overall I’m happy with the progress.

Had to do a lot of frogging. Made all this progress and realized the stitch count was off slightly_frowning_face I’ve now finished up to Round 38, starting to see some real progress as the body takes shape.

Round 47 done!! So excited to see some real progress. I’m loving the look of it coming together. Thankfully the arms were nowhere near as bad as the legs! Just about finished my first ball of yarn.

I have managed to attach the muzzle. Initially I think I had attached it through rounds 66-68 not in the final slip stitches of the muzzle. This resulted in a ridge of stitches across the top of the muzzle which I didn’t like the look of. I frogged that and have now made it back to round 68 ready to plow forward. I’m eager to get this project done it’s been far more frustrating then I ever anticipated.

Had a very productive long weekend. Head is complete and embroidery is done! Took a lot of time marking out and try doing the eyebrows and eyes so he didn’t look too creepy. So glad to be almost done this project. It has been a struggle. Just the shirt to go.

Finished!! This project was a struggle and I’m glad it’s done. I think my friend’s new little baby will be very happy with this gift. I’m still debating opening up the head again to add more stuffing. We will see what time permits.
