I attached the hanging loop to the center so that “Grrr” would hang upright. I picked up the first three stitches of the six stitches above the face and made 3-stitch I-cord for 8 rows, then picked up the next three stitches of the six stitches above the face and made another 3-stitch I-cord for another 8 rows, then grafted the two I-cords together.

As Alice Bell suggested, I used sock yarn (Kroy dark gray) for the embroidered features. To avoid knots and to keep the back neat, I started with a two-stitch wide horizontal line for the top of the nose and drew my yarn out equally to the left and right. I went down to the tip of the nose underneath with both sides of the yarn and came up in front at the same place at the bottom of the nose with both sides of the yarn.

Next, I went up the the sides of the nose on both sides, forming an inverted triangle. From there I went halfway down the sides of the triangle in the back, coming in slightly to curve the sides of the nose. As I came up to the front the slight inward placement allowed me to pull the sides of the triangle into a slight curve.

After filling in the nose on each side, I went the ends of the beginning horizontal line and and went down to the back. From there, I went vertically up to the position of the eyes and came up to the front to form French knots.

After forming the French knots, I went to the back and then vertically back to the nose to hide my threads.

After hiding my threads, I met in the middle of the back of the nose and square-knotted my ends before hiding them again behind the nose.

The back of the work has just a “V” shape showing, with no visible knots.
