We had only used this little bread cloth for a few holidays before it was almost ruined by iron-water from a well when we moved to “the country,” in West Virginia. I crocheted this many years ago, in about 1998, in Huntington, West Virginia.

When we moved again, to Florida, iron-water was no longer a problem. I took a chance and tried soaking the cloth in “Oxy-clean” because I did not want to use a harsh chlorine bleach or color remover. I’m so happy with the results and look forward using my little bread cloth again!

The photo shows how I did not “get the square” (as Kim Guzman says) and how the border is ruffly (and is supposed to lay flat), so I will want to try this project again and work on my gauge and stitch consistency. Still, the pattern is so sweet that I love this little cloth with all its flaws.

Dot Drake is such a talented designer!
