This was my first felted project.
This purse was done on the Brother KH-400 with the bulky set up. This machine was not a true bulky since it used a mid-gauge size needles.
The main wool yarn used was a random cone from a yarn lot. It had a raw burlap like texture and it was waxy. It was a bit rough running on a plastic bed.
The yarn used for the stripes were Patons Classic Wool in medium 4.
Tension used on the kh-400: 5
Prior to felting, the purse was longer lengthwise than widthwise. After felting, this was reversed. The length was shorter than the width. It felted to the size intended.
This wool yarn was very “hairy” after being felted. A battery operated lint shaver was very useful in shaving off all the lengthy hair. It resulted in an even soft look.
