This project is now officially finished! It is lovely to wear, the fabric has a nice drape and feels good on the skin. I’ll definitely use this yarn again…

My new summer top is drying now smilesmilesmile I’m well pleased with my top! It’s lovely and I’ll wear it happily. It’s on the drying rack at the moment but ready to wear. All ends are woven in and I tried it on before I threw it in the water.

The only thing I’d change if I knitted the same again is the position of the vertical bust increases. One can see them in the photo where the front is done. They are right beside the 3 purls at each side of the pattern part and are pretty visible. Better would have been to move them 1 stitch into the stockinette part. There’s always something… ;)

The finish of the neckline in the back is swirling around my head while I’m knitting towards it… There isn’t too much shaping required just a slight curve. I could do that as short rows, having all the stitches life there and then knit from one side of the front the 7 sts border across the back binding off the stitches there - sort of like an expanded I-cord BO. Unfortunately, I didn’t think about it earlier otherwise I’d have left a huge tailend to knit across and would have saved 2 ends to weave in. Ah well, one can’t think of everything…

I SHOULD wash the whole thing to see if I’m on the right track… Well, the first cone is nearly finished that should be a good point for a wash, then I can throw it in the spinner after smile

With having that bit of lace around the neckline and armholes I might get away with not needing any other finish. Though I have no clue as of yet how to start it in the back of the neckline where there is a horizontal bit frowning I guess I’l find some way.

I’m getting close enough to dividing the body into front and back and need to decide what to do with the armholes…

I have some idea for the “V” in the front going directly into it coming from the top of the lace from the swatch and having a little reverse stockinette/eyelet border going along the “V”.

As I’d like to do it for the armholes as well I’ll have to figure out how to start it and how many rounds before the first decreases I need to start.

I’m not big with lace and I tried around for a few hours and think I found a solution I quite like smile

The swatch and the bit I’ve knitting are giving me quite a difference in row/round gauge (52 to 60) frowning_face Now, I should trust the swatch more because it’s larger. OTOH, gauge can change over time and the swatch is at least a year old. Furthermore, it’s knitted in rows vs the top is in rounds and while I’m rather sure I’m using the same knitting needle I’m not quite be a 100%.

Row/round gauge is rather important though for the depth of the neckline and armholes. Maybe I should just knit a bit further and re-wash and re-measure my knitting…

Starteritis… I cast on for a top with the lime green linen. I’m not totally sure but pretty much so that I used the same needle for the swatch. In any case, gauge can change so time will tell where the bit I knitted is going; it’s soaking now and will be dry to re-measure in a day or two.

I just wanted to knit a bit while my silk/linen top was drying.
