Notes

Perfect example of why you should keep track of your stitch count while you go… apparently started off with 62 sts after row 1, not 66 - so stitch count after working all v-neck rows is 272, instead of 276 - I think my row 1 is right though, because as written it only increases by 4 stitches, which gives 62 - because I’m working all the other increases for the number of rows written, being 4 stitches short in the back section shouldn’t create any dramas (famous last words)

prepare for ribbing by joining yarn to middle of back and sc across bottom, 3sc over sides of 2hdc around the front edge - along back neck edge 8sc, sc2tog across raglan corner, (2sc, sc2tog) repeat 4 times, (sc, sc2tog) repeat twice, (2sc, sc2tog) repeat 3 times, 2sc, sc2tog across raglan corner, 8sc, work down remaining front edge and bottom same as previous, slst to beginning - change to smaller hook, ch10 and hdcblo across, working ribbing along bottom edge and JAYG with 3slst into body - work short rows to mitre corner, skipping 3 stitches at the end of each RS row until 2 stitches remain - work one more WS row then ch1 turn hdc ch2 hdc - pick up loops to close the gap along the inside edge of the short row - pick up one more loop in next available hdc yo and pull through all loops on hook - continue working 2 more hdc - ch2 and turn, working back along to the ch2 of the previous row, hdc in ch2 space - ch2 and turn (this turning chain will no longer be worked in), working across the row in the same manner as the previous RS row until there are 8hdc

Button holes: (restart working 3slst into body at end of RS rows again):

  • Row 1 (WS): hdc-blo hdc2tog-blo, ch3, sk1, hdc2tog-blo, hdc-blo, hdc
  • Row 2 (RS): ch2, turn, hdc, 2hdc-blo, 3hdc in 3ch-sp, 2hdc-blo
  • work 4 rows as established Repeat button hole sequence (6 rows) for a total of 5 buttonholes

Body: 24 rows = 28cm (1.17cm/row)

Bottom sleeve = 20+14=34 = 39.78cm (15.66”)

Predicted total length of sleeve: 67.78cm (26.78”)

Length needed: 30.5” -2” for ribbing = 28.5” (72.39cm)
Difference: 72.39-67.78 = 4.61
Extra rows needed on sleeve before decreases: 4
