My latest endeavor has reached an end at last. I will be hand delivering this beauty this afternoon and I am hoping for a really great response. This pattern is based on an extremely inexpensive cardigan I picked up almost a decade ago in a store that no longer exists. I would be bragging, or maybe embarrassed, to tell you just how little I paid for it! Anyhow, my good friend, the ultimate sweater connoisseur, saw me wearing my thrifty purchase and took an immediate shining. After narrowing down the customization choices – cotton, longer back, tighter neck, colour etc. – I was quickly on my way to recreate a masterpiece.
Thus, I present to you the “Epic 3-stranded, cotton cabled cardigan”. So, what is in that title, you ask? Epic, to me, meant very big, as in heavy/chunky. This baby is created using 3 strands of cotton yarn held together. For those of you that have knitted before I am sure you can just imagine how stiff 3 strands of cotton is. Adding to that working a cable was quite the undertaking!..Nevermind having to sew in the ends – 3 plies each time! My fingers were a little numb. So “cabled” simply means those pretty little twisted rope-like patterns. Another feature is the crocheted buttons. Like the original this one too needed the handmade, flowery buttons.
Feast your eyes and enjoy! It’s the last you and I will see of it, sadly.
