Second day of project: I’ve knit 5 repeats of the set of 4 increase rows (raglan & raglan + v-neck). Had to ladder down the little triangle of Right Front to pick up a strand of single-ply fingering that went rogue a few rows earlier, trying to ditch its laceweight friends. Very hard to ladder back up with three tiny strands per row, which tend to cling together (except for that rogue loop). It looked horrible the whole time. I was sure I didn’t succeed. But once back on the needle, it all looked perfectly normal.

I’ve done nine repeats of the four-row increase section now. Would have been more, but I had to spend a big chunk of my knitting time unravelling a big snarl of the fingering-weight yarn (the inside-pull end had somehow snaked out and wound itself around the exterior-pull strand I was using, and the silk/merino caused a minor velcro effect in a number of places, making it a real challenge to untangle. Luckily, I once screwed up an entire skein of Anzula merino silk, which took days to detangle, and so I have the skills.

Ten repeats done. Feels like I’m slowing down a lot, but I have to keep reminding myself that there are now quadruple the stitches in every row that there were when I started the repeats.

Later: Managed another repeat, for a total of 11.

Twelve repeats done. My first skein of fuzz lace (superbaby alpaca, not mohair) is almost gone, which took me a bit by surprise since it emptied from inside the ball first, leaving a gossamer shell behind, which I’m working on carefully now, hoping it won’t collapse and tangle.

One more row to go on my 15th repeat (decided to follow pattern instead of stopping one repeat earlier). Added a second skein of Trinity Cashmere on the second row of Repeat 14 (wet spliced it for a few inches, my other methods don’t work when the other two strands are still going strong).

I was out with a migraine for most of this week and so got little done until today.

I hope to join in the round tomorrow and soon say goodbye to purling for a while.

5 of 7. I’d take a progress photo, but the project is just a balled up wad of knitting until I separate the sleeves (and maybe switch to a longer cable).

Almost out of my first skein of single-ply merino silk. Hoping the other two will be enough to complete the sweater. Had adventures in tangles while winding a second skein into a cake today, but it worked out okay, just took most of an hour.

Bad migraines the past few days, so not much knitting done.

I’ve separated the sleeves, cast on my underarm stitches, and knit a few rounds beyond that. Still using 1st skein of single-ply fingering, but it’s almost gone.

Oh … and I discovered I have one extra stitch on the back and three extra stitches on the front somehow. ??? Spoiler alert: I am ignoring them.

Sweater is about 12 inches long, from back of neck to live stitches. Just joined my 2nd skein of fingering.

Knit (what felt like) all day and achieved about two inches of length. It’s 14 inches now, collar to hem. (2” is more than 3000 stitches)

Just shy of 16 inches and just joined my third skein of Trinity (alpaca/silk/cashmere lace).

Another big tangle/defelting tonight (the single-ply likes to velcro onto itself). I thought I’d have to get out the scissors. Luckily, I didn’t because I barely have enough of this yarn for the project.

Knit for quite a while this morning, still just over 16 inches. Put it on a longer cable temporarily so I could try it on and get an idea of its size. Satisfied.

With just a bit of tugging, the sweater is now 18 inches long.

Still chugging along, making no noticeable progress, but I know it’s building up.

Think I’m closing in on the final length of the body, based on math and my original swatch info. Not sure it looks proportionally correct yet, though. I’ll measure it next time.
