The smaller swatch on the left is with a strand of madelinetosh Prairie in Byzantine, which (unfortunately) disappears, except for the darker areas, which just look like stains on the fabric. Not as fond of the feel/drape with Prairie. The color here is too saturated and warm.

Before blocking, knit on 4.5mm and 5mm needles (smaller size for purl rows). Gauge: 20 st and 28 rows per 4 inches. Very stretchy fabric, though, so should grow a bit.

Very soft and fuzzy. Reminds me of the first day you own a fleece sweatshirt before it pills. Hopefully this will endure better. The color is both bright and muted at the same time -- a feverish tropical red that is watered down by the gray halo (which almost seems tinted a bit lavender or blue.)

I made a swatch, blocked it conservatively (minor stretching), then--because I might want to make a Worsted Boxy--I reblocked it aggressively the next day, stretching it hard and pinning it before spraying it heavily with a water bottle. Gained about 2 inches in both directions--width more than height. I could have stretched it wider if I’d used a more elastic cast-off method.

I think that using bigger needles will help with gauge instead of rougher blocking. Also rethinking my use of a smaller needle for purl rows with this yarn because I’m seeing a distinct alternation from big stitch to small in the row gauge counter.

Took another gauge measurement the day after the aggressive blocking.
