Pattern is: “Gipsy (sp) Granny Square Bag”. Used the pattern for the small size.
Used yarn bits and bobs from my stash - worsted weight.
I did a sc to join and kept the seam on the right side. I wish I would’ve done it so the seam was on the inside for this project.
Used my sugar skull that I had made previously (Pattern: Sugar Skull Garland by Brenda K.B. Anderson).
Finished this in August of 2018, but after using it as a project bag on and off since then - I decided that I wasn’t satisfied with the final assembly. I did sc joining on the right side and everything looked so puckery. The bag was very 2 dimensional and hung weird - there was no bottom -it’s assembled as 2 sides.
Starting on 4/7/19, I frogged all of the connections between the squares - leaving the squares attached to the top stripes. I redid the connections with sc joining on the wrong side - and pulled at the seams as I went so they wouldn’t get too tight and pucker up. I added a bit more filler as connection between the top squares on each side - to give the bag more width. Then I added 2 mini grannies on each side - further widening. I made 2 new squares to create a bottom for the bag. Added additional granny stripes on the side to create shaping for the bag bottom (all the sewing tutorials I’ve been watching lately for boxed bottoms of bags really paid off!).
Loving how it turned out!!!!!! First 2 photos are the revamped version and last 2 photos are the original version.
