ETA: nope! Two big. Used them for hem and up to row 9, then switched to 2mm for after hem.

The pattern includes a link to a ladder back jacquard tutorial, but it is long and chatty. Here is a different one that I find quick and useful.

For the second sock, instead of putting the live heel stitches on hold and then doing a provisional cast-on, I am going to try just knitting those heel stitches onto waste yarn and then picking up stitches from the top and bottom of that knitted waste yarn, like you do with the mitten thumbs.
