The cast off says to do it with larger needles but I tried this, knitting quite tightly, and it was super wavy. So then I cast off with just the same size needles as the rest of it. It was still quite wavy and needed some steaming with the iron to get it to sit flat, even after blocking.
I did one and a half extra repeats of the pattern 4.
