Notes

I followed the stitch pattern on the tank top pattern for the Caron Painterly Cake cotton-acrylic blended yarn. But only made a rectangle the width of the bag and twice the length that I wanted. Folded in half lengthwise and sewed three sides together (right sides facing). Turn right side out. Used dark purple colored cotton yarn to make about a one inch rim of single crochet rounds. Made two straps using same yarn as rim but doing double crochet. Sew straps in place and add decorative buttons.

I found the crochet linen stitch on the pattern a lot easier than a knit linen stitch. Also the painterly cotton cake yarn seems to work a lot better crocheting than knitting (when knitting it tends to knot up a loop back or twist on itself; the crochet hook seems to keep it aligned better).
