To make the ripple as opposed to chevron fold pattern, I changed the chevron fold pattern from using the chevron pattern rows on every right side of the blanket; to doing the chevron patterns on every 8th row. This way there are 7 rows of either garter or stocking-knit between each of the chevron patterns. This makes the fold less steep and more subtle. This Estelle yarn, at 100 per cent cotton, and a slight knobbly texture, is an excellent yarn for a comfy baby blanket.
