This really cute cardigan crochets up nicely. I had a little trouble with the cuffs; be sure Not to add a single chain on each round after the first rows- this is give a space underneath the raised joins between squares. On next rows just do crochets in this extra added stitch. I am also not sure about having an open cardigan for a toddler without buttons and button hole band. Next time I will increase the band widths on the yolk to accommodate a button band and a button hole band.
